Since its inception, the Alabama Elk River Development Agency has dedicated its efforts to not only preserving the natural beauty of the Elk River Watershed, but to also grow the economy in this region. The commercial district was developed in order to bring urban conveniences and employment opportunites to the surrounding area.
Urban Conveniences
The Alabama Elk River Development Agency encourages urban amenities and employment opportunities by leasing property to a variety of businesses. Lease holders include: Piggly Wiggly, Dollar General, Huntsville Hospital Community Health Clinic, Aviagen, Cryptofashion, and Newman Massage and Wellness. These retail outlets are located within the Elkmont city limits and provide the city with sales tax revenues.
Future Development
The Alabama Elk River Agency is currently working on several endeavors that will provide the area with new urban comforts while maintaining the openness of the area. Stay tuned for the progress!
